We Went To SLC, It Was FUN.

Back on September 8th, Luke and I made a 1 day down and back trip down to Salt Lake to watch a band perform, their name is Fun. I know I know, you might be thinking "What the heck kind of name is Fun for a band!?" Well after seeing them live, the name definitely makes sense!!!

Back about 3 years ago, I was introduced to a band, The Format. The first week I heard them, I went down to a concert of theirs in Pocatello, Idaho at Idaho State University. When I heard them live, they had me hooked, I was a fan. I was lucky enough to see them again 2 summers ago at a music festival in Salt Lake, which ended up being one of their last concerts before they BROKE UP! It was hard to believe that this band, that sang with so much heart and meaning had broken up, we were crushed. But the lead singer Nate Ruess wasn't done. That's where Fun. comes in.

Nate formed the group with Jack Antonoff and Andrew Dost, who had both already been in other bands. Many of us Format fans waited, having high hopes for their first album, and about a month ago, we were finally satisfied. Nate picked up where he left off with his lyrical genius, their album Aim and Ignite was what we had been waiting for, and more!

So back to the trip down to Salt Lake, Fun. was first going to have an in store performance and and 2 hours later were going to have their big show. The in store performance was at a Graywhale music store on the University of Utah campus (GO BYU! haha) and they played outside with the fans gathered around, it was really cool. Then after we got to meet the band and get autographs.

After the in store performance we killed some time at the Gateway mall by doing some people watching haha, always fun. After chilling for about 45 minutes, we headed over to the venue for the night concert, Kilby Court.

Kilby Court is in the middle of nowhere in Salt Lake. From the outside it doesn't look like a venue. When we finally got in, the venue was SMALL! It's like they were playing in a garage haha. But that just made it even more awesome. The smaller the venue, the closer we all were to the band as they played, it was an amazing atmosphere, and an amazing show.

The day started at 9:00am and ended around 1:00am after we returned back to Rexburg. It was an awesome day and now we can't wait to see Fun. again.

3-11 3-3-11

I finally got to check another band off of my need-to-see list, 311!!! I've been wanting to go to one of their concerts for forever, and it was awesome. Now I just need to see the Foo Fighters, Incubus, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Linkin Park. I'm looking forward to those concerts!
This is an up close shot, not by me but by Rob Hall who gave me my ticket!

I thought it was cool

So on Sunday I went to Victor, Idaho to go to church and eat dinner with my parents and grandparents. I went out to get some watercress with my grandpa and took some sweet pics.

On the way back to Rexburg from Victor, I could tell that there was going to be an amazing sunset, the first thing I thought of was "I gotta get to the temple!" So I sped back to Rexburg and went straight to the temple and got some amazing pictures, here are a few of em, enjoy!

My bad, haha

Sooo, it's been a really long time since I updated this, you'd think I'd be able to since I'm a jobless slob. Ok, I'm not a slob, just jobless haha.

I've been out of school for a little over a month and I can't find a job. I've been shot down at a ton of places, sucks. It's my first time ever spending a summer in Rexburg, and it's the worst time ever to try to find a job. But there is hope.....

I interviewed at Hollister in Idaho Falls on Tuesday, so we'll see if I get hired there, I sure hope I do, I don't know what else to do if that fails.

Plenty of students here in Rexburg donate plasma twice a week for $50 and have no problems with it. Well I was broke and needed money, so I have in and did it, despite my hatered towards getting needles stuck in me. First time I went, I was fine the whole time until I had about 5 minutes left and I started getting light headed, I didn't pass out but it was a close call haha.

I went back a few days later since you can only go twice every seven days, and my second time, was worse than the first. They said the pressure was bad or something so they had to adjust the needle around and did something. 2 days later my arm started bruising and now it looks all jacked up. No more donating plasma for me, I hate it.
My arm after 2 days

My arm after 6 days

My arm after 8 days

So yeah, I don't want to do that anymore haha. Hopefully I get the job, if not, anyone want to give me some money? Hahaha, jk, I'll find out in a day or so if Hollister decided to hire me, I'm keeping my fingers crossed until then, haha.

Poor Chuck

Poor Charles Barkley. He just showed up to jail to serve his 3 day jail sentence for a DUI. It was his Phoenix Suns jersey that was my first ever basketball jersey to own. He's one of my favorite players of all time and he's just hilarious. I guess it's good that he's serving time though, because stupid people would whine if he didn't. I just thought I would put something up since it's been a while, but I'll try to make another update soon

The Waiting Game

So here I am, Friday night, waiting for a kid to call me. I need to get some quotes from him for an article that I'm writing for the school paper. I've already had 3 articles in this semester, and it just adds to the stress level that I already have thanks to my other classes. Oh well.

I went down to Salt Lake on Tuesday with a group of about 15 students for the Intermountain Sports and Entertainment Fair. All the sports teams in the Salt Lake area were there, like the Jazz, the Bees, the Real Salt Lake and some others that aren't as prominent. Well, I was expecting a lot more out of it haha. When we got there, our group made up about 1/3 of the people there haha, and instead of booths, there were just plain tables set up with a piece of paper on it that said what team that person represented. I talked to a few teams,  but the team that I talked with the most was the Jazz. They only have 1 internship they are looking for at the moment, and it's in sales. The guy seemed to like me and gave me his business card and told me to send another resume if I was interested. So we'll see what happens with that, it's probably a pretty competitive internship. I have been planning on going to Reno this summer with my roommate Luke to install security systems for APX, it'll probably still happen.

After the business fair was over, my Aunt Alison picked me up and we went out to eat and I got some amazing Thai food, only the second time I've had Thai, it was amazing! After that, Alison dropped me off at Energy Solutions Arena (formerly known as the Delta Center) and I went to a Jazz game. The Jazz played the Grizzlies, so we were expecting it to be a lame game, but the Grizzlies made it close.

I came back to Rexburg on Wednesday and had to get back into school after having 5 days off.  It's kind of hard getting back into it after that many days off, but whatever. It's still school, I still don't like it a whole lot, but I only have 1 year left, so that's good at least.

Well, that kid still hasn't called me, he said he would around 7:00 and now it is 8:00, what a punk haha, jk. My editor isn't gonna be so happy if I can't get my story done haha, oh well, I already did a small article for this week, it might be enough to make her
happy. I'm thirsty, time for a drink, laters!

Jazz win!

Oh, It's February

Well, I decided to put another entry in. It's been a few days and the Super Bowl has come and gone. What I expected to happen did. I'm pretty proud of myself, the Super Bowl preview story I wrote for the school paper was almost dead on to what happened in the game, oh yeah! But now that football is over, I want baseball to start already haha.

Something to look forward to is a trip I have coming up to Salt Lake. In a week and a half I'm gonna go down with a bunch of students who are interested in working around athletic teams. We're gonna go to a Jazz game and then go to a job fair that'll have all the sports teams in the area, including the Jazz, the Real Salt Lake, the athletics departments from BYU, U of U and Utah State, the Salt Lake Bees, and I think 1 or 2 others. I'm pretty excited about that. I would love to work for just one team, so it'll be interesting to see what all the different teams have to say.

Oh yeah, something new started up too in my life, dodgeball!!!! We had our first game of the semester yesterday, and we won of course. But it's really funny how into it some people get, just like the kid we played against yesterday. He started getting mad, so we started laughing at him, which made him even more angry. One time he kicked a ball really hard and it was hilarious. I was like "Wow! Did you see how hard he kicked that!?" hahaha! Then he kept on talkin' crap and one of my teammates told him to shut up and play, and after that he put his finger in my teammates face and said "Don't tell me to shut up!" Haha, that was funny too. So we are 1-0, we didn't play that great, but good enough for the win. Our team also wears ugly vests, it's funny haha, I went and got mine at the D.I. haha, it's niiiiiiiiiice.

School is kind of a pain at the moment, but I'm pushing through it. I can't wait for it to be over with. I like being in Rexburg, but I don't like doing the school work. How weird haha. Oh well.

Tomorrow there'll be a concert here in Rexburg. It'll be a benefit concert for a girl that goes to school here that had a vein burst in her head while she was in a class. I'm going for sure, to support the girl and to hear some good music, Allred is playing, they're pretty good, i've listened to them online.

But speaking of music, recently I've been listening to a lot of Muse. The song I've been listening to the most is Supermassive Black Hole, it's pretty rockin'. And during Christmas break, I saw the music video for Knights of Cydonia for the first time, and it was one of the sweetest music videos I've ever seen haha, it's pretty epic.

Well, I'll leave it at that, I'm pretty proud of this entry, it's some-what long haha.

Oh dang

Well so much for my hopes of the Eagles making it to the Super Bowl haha. The Cardinals!? Haha, oh well. So even though the team I wanted to win it all is out, I'm still excited for the big game. Not a whole lot is going on in life right now, just school, which has always been boring haha. I did have my first article of the semester in this weeks edition of the school paper, I wrote a Super Bowl preview haha, what can I say, I like the Super Bowl.

I guess I went to a concert last Tuesday, it a fun time. The bands
were Love You Long Time, Neon Trees, Teen Hearts and The Elizabethan Report. The keyboard player in Teen Hearts was a hottie haha, and she was nice too. We might be going to another concert on Saturday, the tickets are sold out but they said they were going to sell some at the door, the concert is Anberlin, Between the Trees and Medina Lake and it's in Pocatello, we'll see if we can get tickets or not.

Well, I just figured I should do an update since it had been a while.
Yup, that's me next to Charity from Teen Hearts

How much longer do I gotta do this? haha

Well, winter semester started on Wednesday. I drove back Sunday and only almost died once, so it was a pretty good trip overall haha. The roads were really icy but once I got into Idaho the roads got a little better.
This semester should be an interesting one. I'm taking a bunch of classes for my Sports and Exercise Science minor. And I'm writing for the school paper again, but it has changed since the last time I wrote for them, and they are kind of ticking me off already, if they aren't careful, I'll leave them and work for I-News instead. So they better watch it haha.
Other than school starting, not a whole lot is going on. NFL playoffs, NBA regular season, that's pretty much it. Well, tonight I'm going to a concert at a new venue here in Rexburg that my friends Brad and Leif opened up, the Locus. It's gonna be a metal concert, so I don't know how that's gonna go over here in Rexburg haha. I'm going because there's a band from back home that's played with my cousin's band and my brother's band, Picture it in Ruins, is playing so I'm gonna go support a local band from back home. And another band that's playing tonight has played with my bro and cousin's bands will be playing as well, Dethrone the Sovereign. So yeah, tonight will be interesting haha.
I'm sure I'll have more to say later, but the only other thing I have left to say is, GO EAGLES!!!!!! haha
